Who I Am

I’m a Go backend engineer who’s been building software for over 10 years, mostly in security, DevOps, and platform engineering. Currently, I work on industrial IoT connectivity: building north-bound connectors for protocols like MTConnect, OPC UA, and MQTT.

I’m also a huge nerd who likes to build side projects, write about what I’m learning, and occasionally try (and fail) to become a YouTuber.

What I Do

Day job:

  • Backend engineering with Go (industrial IoT, machine connectivity, cloud communication)
  • Working with protocols: MTConnect, OPC UA, MQTT
  • Distributed systems, API design, infrastructure

Side projects:

  • Vagrant WSL2 Provider - development environments on Windows
  • Open-source tooling when I find a problem worth solving
  • This blog (when I have the energy)

Previously:

  • Lead Security Software Developer at BitNinja (server security, WAF, intrusion detection)
  • Platform Engineer at Hays (Dynatrace governance, monitoring, cost tracking)
  • Security Architect and DevOps Engineer at various companies
  • Founded GoSecNinja OÜ for security consulting (later realized I prefer building tools over selling audits)

Tech I Work With

Languages: Go, PHP, some Python when needed

Infrastructure: Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, AWS/Azure, Linux, CI/CD pipelines

Protocols & Tools: MTConnect, OPC UA, MQTT, REST APIs, observability tools

Workflow: AI-assisted development (Claude Code, ChatGPT) when it makes sense

I’m not religious about tech stacks. I use what solves the problem.

The YouTube Experiments

I tried creating technical YouTube content. Twice.

GoSecNinja was my attempt at security content. Turns out it was too niche, and my approach wasn’t “marketable” enough.

Curious Minds Collective was tech reviews, unboxing, and “show your work” style content. Turns out talking to a camera in an empty room in English without feedback is… weird.

So now I write instead. Blogging works better for my brain.

Why This Blog

I write about things I’m working on or figuring out. Sometimes that’s infrastructure automation. Sometimes it’s career decisions. Sometimes it’s just documenting a side project so I remember how it works six months from now.

No polished content marketing. No perfectly optimized SEO articles. Just real problems, real solutions, and whatever I’m learning right now.

Some posts are written with AI assistance (like this About page). Some aren’t. I’m experimenting with AI workflows and writing about the process.
